A moderated, alternate history play-by-post game, Ich Dien offers players a chance to immerse themselves in the world of Regency England. The year is 1812 and the dissolute Prince of Wales has played regent for his ailing father for a little over a year. Britain is at war with Napoleon and his allies while tensions with the United States of America have reached a breaking point. Spencer Perceval, the Prime Minister, has been assassinated and a new government has been cobbled together under the leadership of the Earl of Liverpool. With an economy in flux, the unstoppable march of industry and progress feels as frightening and sinister to some as any threat of French victory or invasion. Yet, in the midst of this upheaval, the London Season carries on with little thought or concern for anything more important than leisure, pleasure, and the privileges enjoyed by the haut ton.
Balls, parties, gossip, a little matchmaking and all the usual diversions are to be had and enjoyed by veterans and newcomers to the city alike. The ladies of Almack's hold court over the debutantes on King Street while Beau Brummel rules good taste with an iron fist. Scandal, that favorite pastime of the bored and wealthy, is no stranger to Town but not everything that is whispered can be taken at face value.
There are rumors of a royal marriage in the air while something more sinister stirs in the heart of the city. Whether politics, mystery, romance or adventure, Ich Dien caters to all tastes. Through creatively moderated play we emphasize character development and writing in addition to plot and advancement. After a soft opening, we are accepting applications for all types of characters.
