"When they're broken, and lost everything
They're so much easier to lead
Take their hope away
Take their life away
Leave them nothing left inside"

AIVAS' plan succeeded and the Red Star was knocked out of orbit. Everyone on Pern rejoiced, thankful that their ancient enemy was no longer a threat. Life continued on peaceful, with slight changes. The dragons were no longer seen as beautiful great beasts, but simply a form of sport and as pets. They only flew only for the benefit of their human masters and to mate, bringing them lower and lower in their own Weyrs. Soon, two dragons had had enough. As their strange, new young were slaughtered right before their very eyes, they broke their chains and bugled their defiance.
Their riders responded in kind, and together they escaped far into the South where none should ever be able to find them. The one silver mutation in the clutch of the defiant gold perished from injuries the Northerners had inflicted, and she and her rider were taken between.
Devasted by the loss of the silver female and her rider, the escapees set to work building a Hold, fearing they didn't have enough people among them to survive. Weyrfolk and Holdfolk from the North solved this problem, coming to their aid and escaping the hated North. Myraid Hold was created and soon after the Weyr. In honor of the silver daughter who had died, they named it Vulnera.
"When your own have died
When there's no more pride
When your soul is frozen
Is that enough?"
When there's no more pride
When your soul is frozen
Is that enough?"
