Lord Gavyn is a tall sort of male, his blue eyes sharp and snappy while his brown hair seems to be permanently rumpled. Generally even tempered, he looks like precisely the sort of guy any one could walk up to and start a conversation with. He dresses impeccably, making him six feet of pure attraction. Well, for some. Looking at him, it's easy to tell that he knows he's attractive and he's more than willing to use that to any advantage.
Gavyn has the long nimble fingers of a harper, and he has often joked that he knows more than one way to use them. Anyone thinking he had harper blood, however, would rethink their opinion of him- he is much too blunt, with little ability to be tactful or diplomatic. While some applaud the young Lord's honesty, others see it as a curse, as he has a gift for offending someone. Too often he'll try and make a joke out of something, speaking before he thinks.
While he knows that he's expected to be a little serious, Gavyn grew up as the pampered and spoiled only child of Lyralon Hold. He's used to getting his way, and although he's responsible for an entire Hold, he's more of a party boy at heart, more than ready to kick back and enjoy himself. More often then not he's off visiting Lyralon Weyr, as their more progressive attitude is easier to deal with then the conservative Holders he's expected to deal with.
History:
Born to Lord Falan and Lady Rismera, Gavyn has known nothing but Lyralon Weyr and Lyralon Hold. His only excursion outside of the Southern Continent occurred 3 turns ago when he was confirmed as Lord Holder during the yearly gather at Fort Hold. He behaved impeccably, only to return to his normal party life once he had been confirmed.
While his father was fortunate enough to have a blue firelizard, none of Gavyn's pleading as a young boy allowed him to become either a dragonrider or impress one of their miniature cousins. His family bloodline had all but died out, leaving him to feel somewhat isolated as a young boy. Rismera was an overly protective mother, keeping her son close and insisting he be raised at her side, rather than fostering him out to another Hold. When he was 10, his mother was expecting another child, though the pregnancy was difficult for her. She was constantly ill, and died while delivering her stillborn child.
Ever after that his father nearly ignored his son, allowing him to do whatever he pleased, so long as the Lord Holder never heard of it. At 15 he was visiting the Weyr when the queen rose, catching him in his first experience with the overwhelming urges caused by a mating flight. He learned to enjoy the greater freedom the Weyr could offer him, and he attended every hatching since then. By his 21st birthday, his father seemed to remember he had a son, and he settled down to teaching Gavyn everything he could. Two turns later, his father died falling from a runnerbeast. Until the Lord Holders convened to confirm him, it seemed that Gavyn's party days were over. He focused on the Hold, ruling it well with the assistance of his father's Steward. Since then, it seems that Gavyn spends most of his time at the Weyr, though it doesn't look as if he's formed any attachments there.
Other Info: Gavyn has no direct heirs. Were he to die without heirs, the Hold would most likely revert to his mother's family, as they are related to the Lord Holders of Telgar Hold.
